- Some researchers have identified George A. Ross (1859-1951), buried at Blandville, Doddridge Co, as the husband of Margaret Lucretia Husk. This is incorrect, as evidenced by her obituary, by courthouse records, by information in "The History of Doddridge County," p. 76, by her headstone identifying her as the wife of J. S. Ross, and by the obituary of James Samuel Ross, son of the George A. Ross in question. Margaret Lucretia Husk's husband was actually this James Samuel Ross. Following Margaret's death, James Samuel Ross married Cansada Skinner, who was previously married to George Riley Ross, who was born ca 1865 in Bath Co, VA and whose relationship to this Ross family is unknown. Doddridge County marriage records also show that the George A. Ross in question, who also was born in Bath Co, VA, married at least twice: First to Emma Elizabeth Putnam (or Putman) in 1881, then to Brida Sutton in 1897, and then to Sarah Melissa Greathouse in 1920.
