  Notes	Speculation that this William Pritchard/Prichard was actually the son of Thomas Pritchard Sr.'s presumed brother William Christopher Pritchard, who died six months before the child's birth, has been disproved by researcher Emily Pritchard Cary, who found that it was based on a certain "William Christopher Pritchard, a bogus addition that was the basis for a number of DAR applications from Marion County at the beginning of the 20th century. The DAR has finally disqualified all applications coming in on that name, but they are permitting those who entered on it to retain membership. Those applications claimed that William Pritchard, a son of Thomas Pritchard and Rachel Davis of Loudoun County, was the son of a patriot killed in Maryland, who MAY have been the brother of Thomas, but there is no proof. Whoever was responsible for compiling those early applications listed his wife as Amelia Knotts. In fact, she was the first wife of Davis Meredith from Delaware, whose third wife was Ann Nancy Pritchard." [4]
