"R. G. Knight has sold his Sugar Bowl Confectionery to J. N. Markey and will conduct the favorite refreshment stand with C. S. Thorndell as manager. Mr. Knight has built up a nice business during his ownership of the concern, and retires from the business to enter military service. Mr. Markey is one of our best known business men, being the proprietor of the Markey Clothing Store, and we predict that he will get along well with his new purchase."

Thorndell, who went through fast Thursday on his first trip as fireman, and was pulling a colored troop train, stated while on siding at Ellenboro, all the boys got out and drilled in that little city, and said it brought back recollections of by-gone days when he was with Co I, 2nd W.Va., during the Spanish-American war."
