Notes for: John Gaston

John Gaston (1645) or his father John (1600) was listed on the hearth-money rate list at Magheragall, Upper Massereene Barony, in the extreme south of County Antrim, Ireland, SW of Belfast. The family later moved a few miles north, as John (1645) had a son William ca 1680 at Carenleigh, Cloughwater, near Ballymena. Clough was a few miles north of Ballymena in Kilconway Barony, and held five Gaston households at time of the 1740 Protestant Householders index of County Antrim.
