In addition to his two natural children, he also raised one foster son, David L. Jett, and his daughter Kimberly Ann Jett. Employment included working as an assistant at the Carl S. Pease Funeral Home, West Union, WV. He was also affiliated with the West Union Transfer Company, was custodian at the Doddridge County Court House, and was Constable for Doddridge County. After retirement from the Doddridge Co Court House in 1965, was elected Magistrate of Doddridge County, serving in that position at the time of his death. He was a member and director of the West Union Volunteer Fire Dept since 1938, serving as Chief for 25 years, and was President at the time of his death in 1975.
