Notes for: Charles Kermit "Mitch" VanScoy

He was a retired teacher of Social Studies and Physical Education, with 34 years of service with the Doddridge County School System, but continued coaching until 1992, for a total of 43 years of coaching at Doddridge County High School. His coaching included the sports of football, basketball and track. An annual basketball tournament at DCHS, the Kermit VanScoy Invitational Tournament, was named in his honor. He attended DCHS himself and later graduated from Salem College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II with service in the South Pacific.
