Notes for: Alexander Gaston
Although identified by some sources as a "Captain," other reliable sources specify that this Alexander Gaston enlisted as a Private in Capt Aaron Rowley's company in John Brown's detachment of the Berkshire County militia on June 30 1777, and that he was discharged on July 26 1777, having "served twenty-seven days at Fort Ann, on an alarm at Ticonderoga." - See "Soldiers and Sailors of Massachusetts," Vol. VI, p. 306.
In addition to the ten children given by other sources, Robert "Bob" Gaston of Longview WA, a direct descendant, also identifies an eleventh, Albert Gaston. Since this is Bob Gaston's direct line, we include it here.
