Notes for: Orville Clyde Dotson

As a young man he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was stationed in northern California. He graduated from Glenville (WV) State Teachers College and earned a Masters Degree from West Virginia University. He was an educator and served as a principal and teacher in WV, Ohio and St Petersburg, Florida. He taught at Calhoun County High School from 1940 to 1954. He taught and was principal in Lancaster OH from 1954 until 1961, when he moved to St. Petersburg. He taught at St. Petersburg High School and Dixie Hollins High School until he retired in 1973. He moved to Manatee County FL in 1978, where he taught adult Sunday school classes at nearby Bethany Baptist Church and served as the "East County Weatherman" for the Bradenton (FL) Herald newspaper for over 20 years.
