Notes for: Jefferson Broadwater

"Jefferson Broadwater is accredited with the first saw-mill in Clay District, which is said to have come into existence in 1855, and to have been located near the present site of Tollgate. He owned and operated this mill for more than twenty years, and was also the builder of the Valley flouring mill, near Pennsboro."
