"Thomas Hickman, the veteran town pumper, and Earl B. Kinney, town sergeant, tendered their resignations to the town council last Monday night at the regular session. Both resignations were accepted, and D. B. Knight, better known as "Chick," was appointed pumper and Bailey Knight appointed town sergeant."

Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, June 15, 1916, in its entirety:
"A motorcycle driven by Town Sergeant Bailey Knight collided with the curb above the public spring Tuesday evening, badly wrecking the machine. Bailey was thrown into Foley's lot, but was not badly damaged."

GIRLS CAPTURED FROM INDUSTRIAL HOME
"Last Sunday three girls from the Industrial Home escaped and tried to make their way to liberty. They walked to West Union and here fell into the clutches of Sergeant Bailey Knight, who detained them until the authorities came to take them back. Bailey received a reward of $15, there being a standing offer of $5 reward for the capture of any one escaped from the home."

NOTICE TO TAX-PAYERS TOWN OF WEST UNION
"You may now pay your taxes and save money, as a discount of 2-1/2 percent will be allowed if paid before the last of November. The Tax Collector, W. B. Knight, will be in his office, second floor, West Union Bank Building, each day between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m."

"Town Sergeant Bailey Knight resigned his position two weeks ago, and Town Council has appointed John Dotson for that position, P. M. Ireland to collect taxes, and Albert Adams as street cleaner."
