Notes for: Gilbert Eugene "Gib" Gaston

After graduating from Salem College, Salem, WV, he taught in Wood County, WV, public schools for several years. Frustrated with student behavioral problems, he left teaching and became a police officer in Parkersburg, WV, retiring with 20 years service. Even then, he remained active as a successful real estate agent in Parkersburg. Gib was a man of many talents and great determination. In carpentry and other projects, his ultimate solution when something wouldn't quite fit was to call upon a tool he called "the persuader," known to anyone else as a sledgehammer. That usually did the trick.
