Notes for: Earl Clifton Stutler
"The three [Stutler] brothers enlisted in World War II. Earl enlisted in the Marines in 1941 along with one of his brothers Stanley Stutler, USMC who was killed in action in 1945 in the South Pacific. These are three of the many Americans who responded to the call to "save the world" and are part of the Great Generation who are slowly passing away. Major Stutler's active military career was never far from him as he encouraged the refurbishing of the War Memorial in West Union and later became an active supporter of the World War II National Memorial in Washington D.C. ... Earl's many interests included genealogy, astronomy, birding, gardening, hiking, fishing, hunting, reading, and clock making. He assisted in preparation of The History of Doddridge County West Virginia 1979 by writing and revising genealogies and reflections."
