Allen, Isreal B.
Isreal B. Allen was born at Center Point, Dodd. Co., Sept. 15, 1841 and died at his home at Webster Springs, W.V. Feb. 3, 1919, aged 74 years, 4 months, and 18 days, after a lingering illness of a complication of diseases incident to his advanced years. When troubles between our states resulted in our late civil war, he enlisted at an early age on the side of the Union, remaining in the service almost four years and until peace was finally restored. Shortly after the war, he engaged in the merchantile business at Center Point and followed merchandizing for 16 years. On July 25, 1867, he was united in marriage to Rebecca (Hutson), to which eleven sons and daughters were born, nine of which survive him. The sons are Richard E. of Center Point; Winter of Pennsboro, Pearly E. and J. Dallas of Salem and Dexter E. of Long Bottom, Ohio. The daughters are Mrs. T. F. (Florence) Hill of Flint; Mrs. Sarah Fleming of Rinehart; Mrs. Joseph (Mary F.) Trough of Folsom, R. 1 and Mrs. Hayden (Nellie) Rush of Salem. The companion and mother was called hence July 25, 1910 and two sons, A.W. Allen and Virgil I. Allen proceded him beyond the Mystic River. On Oct. 1, 1912 he was united in a second marriage to Ellen Payne of Webster's Springs, who with one son, I.B. Allen Jr., also survive him. Accompanied by friends and relatives, the remains was brought to the old home in McClellan, Wednesday Feb. 5 and the funeral services were conducted at the Center Point Christian Church at 10 o'clock a.m. Thursday Feb. 6 by Rev. H.H. Hoey of the Baptist Church. The interment was in the Christian Cemetery in charge of funeral director Davis of Salem.
