Morris Samuel Gaston and Hattie Adams had no children of their own, but raised from infancy Lenora Squires after the death of her mother Lenora Bird Adams Squires, who was Morris Samuel Gaston's first cousin once removed. The 1930 Census of Doddridge County, Southwest District, shows Lenore Squires, age 12, as a "lodger" in the household of Morris S. Gaston and his wife Hattie, while the 1920 Census there shows Leonore Squires, age 2 yrs 2 mo, as a "2nd cousin."
