Notes for: Laura Scott

According to oral family history, John William Nutter was the first in the region to own a steam engine, and he traveled the area around Oxford with the engine to mill lumber.

1930 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Southwest District), enumerated on Apr 5 1930 at Jim Run Road:
John W. Nutter, 68, farmer, widowed; son John W. Nutter, 21, occupation odd jobs, single; dau Mamie E. Faulkner, 29, married; granddau Betty J. Faulkner, 5 yr 11 mo; grandson James W. Faulkner, 4 yr 5 mo; lodger Edna P. Leeson, 16, single.
