Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, Aug 3 1916, in its entirety:
"C. A. Pennington, contractor of Salem, was in our city Monday. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Wm. Flesher, is seriously ill with cancer of the stomach and was taken to her home near Auburn Monday where she will receive medical treatment. Her daughter, Mrs. C. A. Pennington, accompanied her."
