Following their 1864 marriage in Doddridge County, Albert Toops and Bell Jane Davis "first made their home at Waverly, Pike Co., Ohio. Early in 1869 they moved to Athens, OH, and in the spring of 1878 they went by train to San Francisco, by boat to Astoria, Oregon, and up the Columbia River to Wallula, and thence by narrow gauge railroad to Walla Walla, and by wagons to Asotin County, Washington Territory, arriving at their new home on the Anatone Flat in May 1878."
