4210 A death date of 1802 is reported by some researchers. GASTON, James Knox (I4465)

4211 A death date of 1847 has been reported by some researchers, probably from a misinterpretation of court documents. Doddridge County Chancery Court records for the March 1840 term (then Tyler County), pertaining to the division of his estate, show that Aaron Shinn had died sometime prior to that date. The case was not finalized until sometime after 1847, as the file also contains documents from that year. This was just the second Chancery Court case ever held in Doddridge County, which was formed in 1845. SHINN, Aaron (I28821)

4212 A death date of 1894 has also been reported. GIFFORD, Judith Pauline (I71371)

"Wheeling (W.Va.) Daily Intelligencer," Thursday, Sep 2 1858, in its entirety:
"SUDDEN DEATH -- We learn that Mr. Daniel Underwood, of Tyler county, was killed by the falling of a tree, on the 18th inst. The tree struck him on the right side of the head, mashing the skull. His will stipulated that his body was to be laid to rest near his family in the West Union cemetery. LEWELLYN, John Griffin (I45542)

4219 A deed was recorded in 1896 at the Marion Co Court House in Fairmont, WV for a cemetery lot of 8 graves at the Clermont Cemetery near Eldora, Marion Co, WV. It is thought that James G. & Mary Jane Taylor and their daughters, Alma and Estella, are buried there in unmarked graves. The only stone on the lot is for Edna Taylor. The cemetery has no records of actual burials, but they do show proof of the existence of the 8-grave lot in the name of James G. Taylor. Family: James Gaston TAYLOR / Mary Jane YATES (F1430)

4220 A delayed birth record, filed by his sister Katherine on Oct 22 1941, states that he was born on Feb 21 1884, his mother's 14th child. But he was age 6 in the 1900 Census, birth date Feb 1894, and age 16 in the 1910 Census. His death record and his World War One draft registration show his birth date as Feb 21 1894, and he was 24 at the time of his 1918 marriage. Birth date on his headstone is also 1894. COYNE, Robert Michael (I119676)

4226 A discrepancy exists regarding the year and place of her birth. The Social Security Death Index gives her birth date as 8 March 1924, and Doddridge County birth records indicate her birth as 8 March 1924 at Big Isaac, with her first name spelled Ilean. That entry appears possibly not to have been made promptly after her birth. However, she was age 3 in the 1930 Census (name spelled Ilean), age 13 in the 1940 Census (Ilene), and age 19 in her 1946 marriage record (Eileen), all of which put her birth in about 1927. Both the 1930 Census and her marriage record state her birthplace as Pennsylvania. The Social Security Applications and Claims Index, shows her birthplace as both Big Isaac and Scranton, Pennsylvania. The birth date on her headstone is 1927. KESLING, Eileen Florence (I63689)

4231 A double headstone for Sylvester Kinney and "Elizabeth his wife" is found in the IOOF section of Blockhouse Hill Cemetery in West Union. The upright monument is inscribed with her 1861 birth date, but no death date. Findagrave reports the following explanation:

"Mariah Elizabeth Smith Kinney was the mother of my great-grandmother, Anna Loretta Metcalf. Sometime after Mariah Elizabeth's (sometimes spelled Maria E. Kinney) husband Sylvester died, she moved to Los Angeles, California to live with her daughter, Nancy Olive Kinney Finley. She died there in April of 1938 and was buried there because of the cost of transporting her remains back to West Virginia. Several years ago, her descendants from her daughter, Anna Loretta Metcalf, looked into the possibility of relocating her remains back to West Virginia. The family decided to let her continue to rest where she is in California. (submitted 19 Jan 2016) by FAG Contributor #48480372)"

He raced around Ritchie County in a Stutz Bearcat, indulging a taste for liquor and shouting his strange oath: 'Son of a gun to Peeroo!' When I was a boy in the 1940's, I was taken to see Ledrue on his deathbed. He gave me a fistful of coins to buy ice cream and candy, saying: 'Son of a gun to Peeroo, boys need to have fun.' Those words seemed to summarize his high-spirited life." WARD, Ledrue K. (I38057)
