NOTE: Information furnished via email in November 2018 by a granddaughter of S.J. and Clemma Squires provides insight into the relationship of the household members:
"As I was told when young, Mr. Davis sold the property to my grandparents with the stipulation that he could live with them and have a garden space for the rest of his life, which he did. I remember him often collecting and hulling black walnuts from our several walnut trees, as well as butternuts and hickory nuts for my grandmother, which she always appreciated."
