Jack Spencer, 53 (sic), farmer, value of real estate $800, value of personal estate $20, married within the year, cannot read/write; C. S. Spencer (female), 18, married within the year, cannot read/write.
NOTE: Age 53 entered for the man is clearly in error, probably intended to be 23. William J. Spencer was age 14 in the 1850 Census and age 22 at the time of his 1859 marriage to Catharine Salome Kinney.
In the 1870 Census of Doddridge County, the widowed Catharine Spencer and her son Snoden, as well as her parents, were found in the household of her brother Snoden Kinney. [2]
