- We have found several discrepancies in the research done on this family:
(1) Jacob Nutter is listed by Minnie Kendall Lowther (HRC, p. 236) as one of the children of John C. Nutter & Emily Vincent, but not by Don Norman. We have found no other reference to this Jacob Nutter.
(2) Conversely, Don Norman lists Joseph Skelton Nutter and Avery Fillmore Nutter among their children, but Minnie Kendall Lowther does not. Joseph does appear twice as their son in census records, but Avery appears only once and is listed as a grandson. Avery's death record identifies his father as John Nutter, but does not name his mother.
(3) Lowther identifies one of John & Emily's children as Thomas Nutter, while Norman identifies him as William Thomas Nutter. This appears to be the same person.
