- Following graduation from WVU in 1954, he went to work for Magnolia Petroleum Company (which later merged with Mobil) and moved his young family to Odessa, Texas. Many transfers carried them across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Illinois until they finally landed in Oklahoma City in 1960 where they were able to remain until all the children were grown. After working a few years in Denver, Colorado they returned to Oklahoma City. Jack retired from Mobil in 1990. During his years in the oil industry he was active in the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
