    • The only birth record on file is a delayed entry filed by his father in Doddridge County in November 1942, which states that Jackson George Farr Johnson was born in New Milton on 6 March 1904, a date that is reflected on nearly all records thereafter. But it appears likely that he was actually born one or two years earlier. Age 8 in the 1910 Census and age 17 in the 1920 Census (enumerated in January) would both put his birth in about 1902. He was age 27 in the 1930 Census. Thereafter he consistently reported his age to be a bit younger, age 32 in his 1936 marriage record and age 35 in the 1940 Census. Additionally, the 6 March 1904 birth date conflicts with the verified 15 Oct 1904 birth of his sister Martha.

      His name has appeared in many different forms in the various census records. In 1910 he was listed as George R. Johnson (did the enumerator mishear George Farr?), in 1920 as Farr, in 1930 as Jackson G, in 1940 as Jackson G F, and in 1950 as Jack G. In both his marriage record and his delayed birth record, he was identified by the full name Jackson George Farr Johnson. The name on his headstone is J. G. F. Johnson.
