    Notes 
    • He was a former employee of J. L. McCormick Hardware, West Union, as a clerk, and he then was the owner and operator of Hoskinson's Feed Store from 1951 to 1968. He retired from Doddridge Farm Services as the manager with 14 years service.

      From an undated newspaper clipping:
      Staff Sgt Lawrence R. Hoskinson, 29, a tail gunner on a Flying Fortress, has been credited officially with destroying a Focke-Wolfe 190 German fighter during the Fifteenth AAF attack on the Romanian capital of Bucharest on May 7. Sgt Hoskinson, son of Mr. & Mrs. Roy Hoskinson of Flint, has completed all of his missions after serving overseas for the past nine months and is expected home soon.

      An article in the Nov 13 1969 issue of the West Union Herald reads in its entirety:
      "Hoskinson Breaks Arm. Lawrence Hoskinson, popular manager of the Doddridge County Farm Service Store here, suffered a broken arm last week while operating a tire changing machine in the store. You can't 'keep a good man down' -- so Lawrence is on the job with his arm in a sling."
