    • Local news item, West Union Herald, Thursday, Nov 11 1920, in its entirety:
"Minter J. Springston, aged 53 years, son of John [sic] Springston, of Harrison County, died at the County Infirmary on Sunnyside last Wednesday, and funeral services were conducted by H. W. Thomas on Thursday, and interment made in the Home Cemetery. A. J. Osborned, funeral director."

NOTE: The Home Cemetery is a reference to the pauper cemetery on the grounds of the County Home, also known as the County Infirmary or the County Poor Farm. Identification of his father as John rather than William is clearly incorrect. The same error was made in his State death certificate, with his mother's name left blank. The death record on file in Doddridge County does not list his parents.

Identified as Minter J. Springston, 52, marital status (blank), occupation pauper; died Nov 2 1920 at Sunnyside, cause of death (blank). Informant: A. J. Osborne, undertaker.
NOTE: Given his pauper status and the location of death, it is nearly certain that Minter Springston was a resident of the County Poor Farm at the time of his death. Although no burial location was stated, it is also likely that he was buried in an unmarked grave at the nearby Poor Farm Cemetery. This was confirmed in his death notice, published in the West Union Herald on Nov 11 1920.
