    • Together with his father and his son Carl, Doyle Duckworth began to expand his dairy operation. He cut down trees on the farm to make lumber. With this he engineered and built his own home, and most of the buildings on the farm. They started with 12 cattle and eventually reached more than 350 head. Doyle and his son believed that education and technology would be the key to success. They were charter members of the Central Ohio Breeders Association, the Marietta Milk Producers, and Milk Marketing Incorporated. Mr. Doyle was the primary organizer of the Southeastern Ohio District Council of Cooperatives, and the Wolf Run Conservation District. He served for many years on the Landmark Board of Advisors and the Washington County Farm Bureau.

The farm has been recognized for many years on the soil conservation tour, and has won numerous awards for outstanding corn silage, and corn production. Doyle and his son, Carl, were close advisors to Mr. Ralph Sawyer and, later, Roger Smith, in the Marietta High School FFA programs. They volunteered the farm for educational purposes on an annual basis.

Duckworth Farms became the third dairy farm in the United States to purchase and use a computerized feeding system to feed and track daily milk production of every cow. With this advancement and by proper breeding, the farm was able to produce more than three million pounds of milk annually. The farm furnished three breeding bulls to the Central Ohio Breeders Association to help improve other farms in the state. In 1989, Duckworth Farms was the winner of the Marietta Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Award.

Doyle and his son Carl had a deep belief in agriculture and education. The family has a scholarship fund that was established after the death of Carl in 2001. This fund assists students studying agriculture and is also for educational instruction to local FFA groups in the county. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Duckworth Farms Scholarship Fund at Marietta Savings Bank, Attention Cathy Moody, P.O. Box 837, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
