- The bond pertaining to the forthcoming marriage of William Childers and Nancy Ann Hukill was executed between William Childers and William Williams on June 4, 1816.. Attached to the bond was another document, a transcription of which follows, with minor changes to punctuation and spelling for ease of understanding:
Know all men by these presents that Ann Hukill of Harrison County and State of Virginia, daughter Jesse [?] Hukill deceased, formerly of the State of Delaware, being now aged 14 years old, has elected [illegible] by these presents to elect and choose William Williams of the same County of Harrison to be guardian of my person and estate untill I shall attain the age of twenty-on years. And I do hereby promise to be ruled and governed by him in all things touching my welfare. And I do hereby authorize my guardian to do and perform all acts and things which a guardian may lawfully do or perform. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal this 3rd day of June 1816.
