"The death of Ed F. Carder, a highly respected young man of our town, has cast a gloom over the community. He died on August 9th of that dread disease typhoid fever. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Seager at his father's residence on Monday, after which the remains were taken to the Baptist church to be viewed by his many sorrowing friends. He was buried in the I.O.O.F. cemetery."
