      1870 Census, Hickory County, Missouri (Center Township, Hermitage Post Office), enumerated on August 9, 1870:
      James G. Wilson, 51, carpenter, value of real estate (blank), value of personal estate $50, father of foreign birth; Angeline 31; Matilda, 15; Mary A, 13; Annas (female), 9; Jasper N, 8; Thomas B, 6; Henrietta, 5; John, 3. All born in West Virginia except James, born in Pennsylvania. James was indicated as being a "Male Citizen of U.S. of 21 years of age and upwards, whose right to vote is denied or abridged on other grounds than rebellion or other crime."
      NOTE: A nearby household was that of Angeline's married sister's family, Eliza J. & William J. Shinn and their seven children, all born in West Virginia. William Shinn was also indicated as having his voting rights denied or abridged.

      NOTE: Though the handwritten entries in the ledger-style marriage record book are sometimes confusing as to the year of marriage (alternating back and forth between 1857 and 1858), it appears that this marriage occurred in 1858, not 1857 as some researchers have reported. Based on census records, husband James G. Wilson's age is understated by ten years. He was age 41 in the 1860 Census, and 51 in 1870.
