    Notes 
    • According to family members, Mary Garrison apparently never married the father of her children, but it is accepted that he was George Cottrell. However, Findagrave reports that the father of her daughter Cora Garrison was Edgar Davis. Mary's headstone reads "Mary E., dau. of A. & M. Garrison."

      1880 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (West Union District, Town of West Union), enumerated on Jun 4 1880:
      Mary Garrison, 27, single, dressmaker, unable to read or write; bastard son Wesley, 9; bastard daughter Cora, 4; bastard daughter Biddy A, 3 months.

      In the 1900 Census, enumerated on June 4th, three of Mary's children were found as "boarders" at a West Union hotel operated by Allen Leasure (b. 1861 in Ohio) and his wife Mary (b. 1861 in Pa.):
      Cora Garrison, 24, b. Jun 1876, single, occupation (blank); James Garrison, 18, b. Jun 1881, single, occupation bartender; Georgia Garrison, 15, b. May 1885.
