John Chipps, 26, farmer, cannot read/write; wife Sarah, 25; son F. F., 10; dau (original "M" entry for Male was overwritten with "F"), 4; dau Sarah, 5 months. All born in Va/WVa. John's parents born in Ohio.
Note (1) The son listed as F. F. Chipps was Francis Faren (or Faro) Chipps, who married under the Chipps surname in 1895, but later changed his surname to Statler (or Stateler).
Note (2) The child listed as daughter D. E. Chipps was actually a son, Dexter Elliott Chipps.
Note (3) Daughter Sarah was more fully known as Sara Anna Chipps, but commonly went by the name Annie.
