    • Identified in "The History of Doddridge County," p. 67, first as Nancy Leeson, but elsewhere on the same page as Lavina May Leeson. Her marriage record identifies her as Laverna, death record as Levina, headstone as Lovinia, and birth records of her children as other variations of that name. According to her great-great-granddaughter, Elaine Daugherty, the correct form is Lavina Mae. The one reference to Nancy is clearly an error, as it is contradicted in the same source, refuted by other sources including direct descendants, and has not been found anywhere else.

    • Joshua Adams had six children by his first wife, Lovinia May Leeson; all six were boys and five of them were carpenters. Joshua built many houses himself. Joshua ran a general store that kept his team and driver on the road six days a week hauling supplies from Toll Gate.

      Identified as Levina Adams, wife of Joshua Adams, b. in Doddridge Co, d. Apr 14 1869 at age 31y 4m 3d, of consumption.

      - Inscription reads "Lovinia, wife of Joshua Adams, died Apr 14 1869." Age at death appears to be 31 yrs 1 mo 10 d's, which would be at variance with the 31y 4m 3d stated in her death record.

      Groom identified as Joshua Adams, age 21, b. Barbour Co, son of W. & Mary Adams. Bride identified as Laverna Leason [sic], age 17, b. Doddridge Co, dau of William & Lusind [sic] Leason. Ceremony held Feb 15 1856 at Cabin run. Based on information found in other sources, particularly The History of Doddridge Co, p. 67, it appears that the names of the parents of the bride and groom were reversed in the marriage record.
