This death record contains several discrepancies. The stated birth date of Aug 10 1856 is inconsistent both with the stated age at death (64y 8m 7d), which would put birth date at Sep 20 1855, and with the age reported in the 1910 Census (52, as of Apr 1910), which would make his 53rd birthday in Aug 1910 and indicate a birth year of 1857. Additionally, the deceased's birthplace, and that of both of his parents, is stated as England. The 1910 Census, based on his own statements to the enumerator, shows that he and his parents were all born in Wales. Also, his parents are identified as John Humphreys and (first name not given) Causer. This appears to be a clerical error that reflects the names of the deceased and his wife, rather than the names of his parents. Informant for completion of the death certificate was Lewis Humphreys of Newburg WV, relationship not stated. It is possible that this is John Humphrey's oldest (age 25) son, William L. Humphreys, who simply erred in providing the required information.
