      Joshua L. Knight, a son of Thomas Jr. and Maizie (Lowe) Knight,
      was born in Marion County VA (WV) in 1804 and died in Calhoun County
      VA (WV) October 6, 1856. He married Mary Shuttlesworth, a daughter of
      Archibald Shuttlesworth, April 5, 1838. Mary was born in 1806 and
      died in Calhoun County in 1845.
      Joshua married Mary Modisette in Doddridge County VA (WV) August
      8, 1848.

      Note: There appear to be some errors in the entries of the children's names. Valentine was presumably entered for Martin Van Buren Knight, and Daniel was actually David Wilson Knight, both children of Joshua's first wife Mary Shuttlesworth. Whereabouts of their third child, Hiram J. Knight, is not known. Joshua and his second wife Mary Modisett's first child was James Philip Knight, born in 1848.
