    • Robert was a teen-ager when he arrived with his family in America from Ireland. He refused to become a Quaker, which led to his being disowned and disinherited by his father. His wife, Aquilla Reese, was a Quaker, and when she was married in a Presbyterian church, she was cast out by her family. Robert and Aquilla moved south to what is now Albemarle County, Virginia, then moved to Harrison County, Virginia (now W.Va.) in about 1785. [1, 2]
