      Archibald Lowther, 24, farmer; Frances J, 21; Charles L, 10 months.

      The following entry is found in Minute Book No. 2 of Doddridge County Court, p. 185, for the May Term 1853, dated May 23 1853:
      "Catharine Faul, aged sixteen years, this day came into court and chose Archibald Lowther for her guardian, whereupon it is ordered that the said Archibald Lowther be and he is hereby appointed Guardian of the said Catherine Faul."
      (NOTE: It is assumed that this Archibald Lowther of Doddridge County, rather than the two Archibald Lowthers nearby in Ritchie County, is the one in question. No other record of Catherine (Catharine) Faul has been found. The two spellings above are exactly as found in the original handwritten document.)
