Ramage's "Doddridge County Cemeteries" Vol II reports it as Dec 20 1862, based on a cemetery reading in 1983. But Findagrave reports it as Feb 3 1868 based on a cemetery reading in 2011. The Findagrave photo shows the badly weathered headstone to be virtually unreadable. In both cases, his age on the headstone was reported as "in his 55th year," which would put his birth in about 1813. But age 46 in the 1850 Census and age 53 in the 1860 Census would put his birth in about 1804 or 1807. His absence from the 1870 Census tends to confirm one of the 1868 death dates. No death record for him has been found.
