Name Esther GASTON Born Oct 1760 [1, 2] - Birth date reported in "Heritage History of Chester County, SC," p. 196, as Oct 15 1760, but Hanna's "Ohio Valley Genealogies," p. 41states Oct 18 1760, while the DAR lineage book shows it as 1761.
Gender Female Died 1809 [1] Notes - Before her marriage to Alexander Walker, Esther Gaston was cited for her heroic deeds during the American Revolution. During the Battle of Rocky Mount, when she saw three men fleeing, she asked to take their arms and fight in the battle herself. This prompted the men to return to the fighting. With patriotic spirits and kind hearts, she and her sister-in-law aided the wounded and dying during the Battles of Rocky Mount and Hanging Rock, dressing the wounds and quenching the thirsts of the seriously injured.
