  Notes	"Moses Tichenor (sic) served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Layton's Company of Morris County, New Jersey Militia in 1778, and was drafted into the Virginia Militia for a tour of duty to guard the prisoners taken at the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown. The prisoners were confined in Frederick County, Virginia. His son, David, was enrolled as his substitute and served from November or December of 1781 until March 12, 1782. Although the spelling of Moses Tichenor's name varies from the time he left New Jersey, he evidently preferred Tichenal." [4]
