- Presumed to be a son of Hugh Gaston (b. 1687), as a James Gaston, probably a brother to John Gaston of New Jersey (b. ca 1719), was listed as a subscriber to the fund for building Allentown Church parsonage, 1758, in connection with that of John Gaston of Upper Freehold. However, that James Gaston may actually have been the one baptized on Mar 28 1742 as the eldest son of John Gaston (b. ca 1719).
The name of James Gaston appears as a member of the congregation of Lamington Church, Bedminster Twp, in the years up to 1766. A James Gaston (probably the James b. ca 1750, son of William b. 1720) also took up land in Mt. Bethel Twp, Northampton Co, Pennsylvania, in 1773. The Name of James Gaston appears on tax lists of Cecil Twp, Washington Co, PA, in 1787 and 1788, and in Rostraver Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA, in 1789. [1]
