"Sergeant Alva D. Stutler, of the 32nd Inf Machine Gun Company, U.S.A., is back amongst his old friends, on a sixty-day furlough. "Stut" as he is commonly called is one of "The Old Guard" and his friends are always glad to see him. He has been located in Honolulu for the past three years, and has some mighty interesting yarns to spin as to the way of doing things in our island possessions."

"Alvah Stutler of Smithton, who returned from the Hawaiian Islands about a month ago, spent Sunday in West Union and attended the funeral of his brother soldier, Albert L. Ferguson. He has been in the islands about 3 years, is a member of the Machine Gun Company of the 32nd Infty, and wears a sharpshooter's medal. Mr. Stutler informs us that he will likely return in about a month."
