- In 1939, at the tender age of 12, Webb learned the value of hard work and the thrill of competition. He was an All American Soap Box Derby Winner in Buckhannon, and he raced in the All American Derby in Akron, OH where he won two heats and was edged out in his third race by a boy from San Francisco. It was a treasured childhood memory of fun, friendship and accomplishment. [Obit]

- Webb dedicated his 42-year working career to building his successful automobile business, Ballards Chevrolet, before his son, Denny, took over. He was civic-minded and dedicated to contributing to the quality of life in his home community. He served 29 years on the Board of Directors at the Citizens Bank of Weston and was presented an award for his service. He was a member of Jackson Lodge #35 A.F & A.M for 51 years, past President of the Lewis County Shriners Club, and former member of the WVU Wheels Club. Years ago, he served as Town Recorder and Town Council Member for Jane Lew. He was also a chapter member of Deerfield Country Club and a member of their Board of Directors. [Obit]
