    • The death record for Nancy Lowther Welker states her burial as Woodland Cemetery, where most of her immediate Lowther family is buried. Findagrave reports her burial plot there as 16-4-4, but has no photo. However, her husband Joseph Welker, who died six years before, is buried at Newman Cemetery, as indicated by his headstone (flat marker) showing his dates as 1855-1926. A matching marker is for "Nannie his Wife" with birth date 1853 and death date blank.

    • "When (father) Jesse and family lived in W. Va., he stored gunpowder behind the fireplace. Some of the children threw gunpowder into the fire, which caused a bad fire, and Nancy ended up with a number of bad scars." [1]
