August 9, 1958 ~ August 28, 2022 (age 64)
On August 28, 2022, Rita Faye Brown, 64, passed from this life at the Genesis Personal Care Home, Pierpont Center in Fairmont, WV. She was the youngest child of the late Ford Clement and Madeline Childers Brown of Salem, WV.
Rita will be sadly missed by her three surviving sisters, Betty J. Gulas, Clarksburg, Linda Lunsford and husband Arthur, Salem and Sharon Jo Morgan and husband Edward, Knoxville TN, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Ann Carter and husband Guy Allen Carter; brothers, Richard Brown and Ralph Brown and his wife Barbara McIntyre Brown, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Gulas.
Rita was truly a person that God uniquely created. Born on August 9, 1958, Rita was legally blind since birth. As a young child she spent a happy childhood on the family's dairy farm where she loved to be outside. She graduated from the West Virginia School for the Blind in Romney, WV. Following graduation and faced with multiple disabilities, she returned to the family home and remained with her parents until their passing.
Rita's health issues required that someone be with her at all times. Her life's struggles were met by many compassionate people who helped her during her life. Rita's family would like to express their gratitude to the following: The caring staff at Genesis in Fairmont, the caregivers provided by United Summit Center, the nurses with WVU Medicine Hospice, and the congregation and clergy of the Oakmound Evangelical Church in Clarksburg where Rita loved to attend when she was able.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 11AM until time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Denver Burnside officiating. Interment will follow at K of P Cemetery.
