      Abstract--was born June 20, 1863 in Maryland, the s/o Peter and Cynthia Ann Bray Bever, one of three children, all deceased. His father was a Civil War veteran and died of typhoid fever while in the service. The family moved to Rowlesburg when Charles was quite young and after his mother resided with her son until her death 26 years ago. He resided in the same home for 60 years.

      He was united in marriage to Mary Catherine McNemar and to this union were born the following children, Charles W., Bradley B., Alston G., and Mrs. Lola V. Kearns all of Rowlesburg, and two sons, Jesse J. and John M. who died in infancy.

      Mr. Bever followed the saw mill business, and thirty-five years ago lost his right arm in the mill. From childhood he was known as "Pete" Bever, a nickname given to him for his resemblance to his father. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by 8 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery, Rowlesburg.
