    • Having reenlisted on Jan 4 1864, he was taken prisoner near Petersburg, Va., on Oct 27 1864 in the first Battle of Hatcher's Run. As part of a prisoner exchange, he was paroled at Richmond, Va., on Feb 15 1865; reported at Camp Parole, Md. on same date. Sent to Camp Chase, Ohio (Columbus) on Feb 19 1865, arriving there on Feb 24 1865. He was granted 30 days furlough from Mar 2 to Mar 31 1865.

    • In the 1860 Census of Doddrige County, William Bee Sherwood,16, was listed in the household of John and Eleanor Sherwood. This was actually William Bee, who had taken up residence with the family of his father's first cousin Eleanor Bee Sherwood.

      Identified as William Bee, age 74y 2m 29d, married, common laborer, b. May 10 1844 in Doddridge Co, son of Acy Bee (b. in N. J.) & (mother not known); died Jul 9 1918 at Palmer, Braxton Co, WV, cause of death dropsy of the heart, burial at Orlando, WV. Informant: John Bee, Palmer WV. (Note: The relationship of John Bee to William is not indicated, but is most likely his son. There are two minor discrepancies in the death record. It is known from his marriage record and census records that William Bee was born in Harrison County, but resided in Doddridge County from an early age. Also, the informant apparently confused the birthplace of William's father Asa with that of his grandfather, Jonathan. The latter was born in New Jersey, married in Harrison County in 1817, and Asa was born soon thereafter.)
