(Note: Sidney Amos was more commonly known as Benjamin S. Amos, later a physician. His 1868 marriage to Lucinda Miller ended in divorce and he remarried Mary Carter in 1885. Luther Amos was his brother, more commonly known as Martin L. Amos. Relationship to Luther Amos is not known. Many of the men in the nearby households listed their occupations as "working on saw mill." The owner/operator of the sawmill was presumably a neighbor, John McGowan, 65, whose occupation was listed as "running saw mill.")
