(NOTE: Although not indicated as such, this was apparently a delayed birth entry, since Emma B. Underwood did not marry John B. Swiger until 1913. The West Union Herald of Apr 4 1912 reported several items regarding local court cases, including the following, in its entirety: "Emma B. Underwood vs. Thomas M. Arnett, upon a charge of bastardy. Compromised and dismissed.")
