    • The 1890 Veterans Survey, in which he was listed as Absolem Hyleman, indicates his service dates as Jul 1861 to 1865, unit given as 14th W.Va. Inf, company not specified. Information in that Survey is generally as provided to the enumerator by the veteran himself. But "Hileman Genealogy" reports his service dates as Sep 1864 to Jun 1865, which is more in keeping with his documented draft registration in Jul 1863. Other records, including his Civil War pension record, indicate his unit as Co C, 6th W.Va. Inf.

But immediate family, namely the authors of "Hileman Genealogy," state that this is the same Absalom Hileman.
