Name Lewis LEASEBURG Birth CA 1798 Germany
[1] Gender Male Census 1860 Doddridge Co, (W)VA Occupation farmer [1] Death Bef 1870 - Not with family in 1870 Census.
Notes - Virginia, Doddridge County, to wit:
There being no Overseer of the Poor in the third Magisterial District, I, Charles Ladwig was at the December Term of the Court commissioned to look for and examine the circumstances of the distressed family of Louis Leaseburg, living in the above mentioned District; proceeded accordingly and found that the said Leaseburg merely could make out to keep his family with the allowance of one dollar a week; but could by no means pay out of such allowance debts which he necessarily had contracted previously to above mentioned allowance. I ascertained further that said Leaseburg by contracting those debts was expecting that he would receive, as was promised to him by the former Overseer, for the keeping of a single old woman, one dollar a week, which would have been sufficient to meet those contracts. By careful examination, I find these debts to amount to $47.80, and I therefore ask the Court will pass an order to pay said sum to Lewis Leaseburg, to enable him to pay his honest debts.
